Jazz Listings for Aug. 31-Sept. 6 – NYTimes.com

Brötzmann-Adasiewicz Duo / Joshua Abrams Natural Information Society with Chad Taylor (Wednesday) This venturesome double bill features two groups largely rooted in Chicago. The first is a duo of Peter Brötzmann, the veteran German saxophonist rightly revered in free-jazz circles, and Jason Adasiewicz, an expressive young vibraphonist; their most recent New York gig, at the 2011 Vision Festival, provided the source material for a new album, “Going All Fancy” (Brö), that will be available at the show. As for Josh Abrams, he’s a multi-instrumentalist who looks far and wide for sonic inspiration, and he’ll draw here from “Represencing” (Eremite), an album due out in October, featuring the resourceful drummer Chad Taylor. At 8 p.m., Le Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker Street, (212) 505-3474, lepoissonrouge.com; $15 in advance, $18 day of show. (Chinen)
